As parents we always want to be there for our kids. We don’t want to see them hurt and we want to protect them from anything harmful. Yet from our own experiences in life, we know that our kids will experience hurt, and maybe even regret. We want to warn them, we want to be there helping them through those times. I realized one day while playing with my sons on the floor that there were going to be times that I wouldn’t be able to protect them. I realized that I couldn’t be there for them every hour of their life. As they grow older they may make some of the same mistakes I made, feel some of the same pain I felt, and sometimes wonder if they have what it takes to be a good father and husband. I remember thinking, “Please God be with them as they grow and please pick them up when life gets them down”. This song is my prayer to God asking Him to always be there for my sons and my family especially when times get hard.
