A few years back a friend of mine who is also family, lost this their precious 3 year old little girl due to complications with an illness. She battled the illness for a long time and fought the good fight. As I understand it, the family was able to hold her as she died. The day after her passing was an emotional one for many, including me. All I could think about all day long was this little girl and her family. I tried to put myself in their shoes but it hurt too much to even think about. I was teaching at the time, and I took my guitar to work with me. During my lunch period and plan period, I wrote Ava's Song. No doubt in my mind, Ava was there that day helping me, guiding me, inspiring me. Although the pain of losing her will never go away for her family and this entire community, I believe her song has at least helped them in the healing process.
